Meet Ellen
I have been both a math teacher and a business owner. I’m detail-oriented, enjoy puzzles, and feel peace from order and predictability. I love helping my clients learn more about the health of their business finances and what actions they can take to increase profitability. I am a certified YNAB coach and support my clients with respect and dignity to achieve their spending and saving goals. I take the time and have the patience to help make sure you understand and are comfortable with the financial side of your business or your life. I meet you where you are and extend a hand to help you get where you want to go.
I started my firm, Systems by Ellen, in 2021. In 2023 I met Kari at a conference and we started collaborating. We made it official and merged our businesses in 2025 and are excited to bring Capricorn Bookkeeping & Consulting to fruition.
I live on 90 acres in Blacksburg, VA, with my husband and my daughter’s two retired competition horses.
I want my clients to know how much I care about them and the health of their business. I like to forge long-term relationships built on trust and mutual appreciation of each other. I’d love to meet you!
Meet Kari
I’ve worked in management positions in the Credit Union world since 1997. I understand the confusion and frustration many of us have about money, particularly how to keep track of it and control it. Over the years, I’ve worked hard to bring high-quality financial products and services to people and taught them how to use these tools to help make managing their money convenient and easy.
I am proud that my career has always been about helping people, serving others, and using principles of good financial stewardship.
In 2023, my family and I decided to move to New Hampshire, and with a big move comes other big decisions. I wanted to continue helping others, but I also wanted a change. I created my bookkeeping business, Yellow Wood Bookkeeping LLC, to use my skills to help entrepreneurs and business owners better understand their finances so they can relax, know that they are ready for anything, and focus on the work they love to do. Working exclusively in QuickBooks Online allows me to help business owners from all over, so you don’t need to be local to me in order for us to work together!
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband, John, and our pug, Olin. I also enjoy getting together with family and friends, watching hockey and tennis, going on road trips, baking, reading, and trying new things. I look forward to exploring my new town and discovering everything the Lakes Region offers!
